1. A skxawng in Kelutral

It was still early. The first light was creeping over the high branches of the majestic tree, which the People called Kelutral. Hometree. Puvomun, a singer-teacher of the Omatikaya clan, noticed that first light while he still had his eyes closed. This moment of the day was so pure, so fresh, he didn’t want to miss it. He delighted in the soft warmth of the light as it touched his skin. A gentle breeze passed by, carrying the sound of…

A skxawng in Kelutral

This is the first chapter of the first story I wrote as in an attempt to produce fanfiction. It plays on Pandora, the world of Avatar and the Na'vi people. At the earliest morning light, Puvomun awoke. With eyes closed, he listened to the sounds. Most others were still sleeping, he heard, and the touch of the wind was gentle. With a slow movement he pushed against the side of his nivi, the hammock the people slept in. As it…

Book Review

Adventures Without Clothes: An Anthology of the Best Naturist Adventure Stories by Ted Bun My rating: 5 of 5 stars I'm very glad that my naturist 'persona', P.Z. Walker, was able to deliver a story to this amazing collection. I just finished reading the e-book (yes, I skipped my own - I already know how that ends), and the number of adventures possible, without clothes, is fantastic. From space, through fantasy and crime, to a new start in life, every…

A new book coming. Zoolah

On March 23rd, my birthday, a new book will appear. David is sure that aliens are visiting him at night, but no doctor can find a hint of the painful injections he suffers. When he and his new girlfriend throw a party, the aliens visit again. Nothing in his life as a hiking guide has prepared David for waking up on a space ship. He feels even less prepared to help an alien race to save their planet. What’s worse,…

A new "Sandy" book

Yes. It finally happened. There's a sequel to "A Girl Named Sandy". It took a while. Believe it or not, but this is the fourth attempt to write that sequel. I think I threw out more than all the words that are in this new book, trying to get a good story together. It was difficult. The main focus of the first book was what went on on Earth, not in space. And then there was space. And a new…

The dream is done. Or isn't it?

Remember that post, I had a dream? In 31 days, from December 25th 2022 until today, January 25th 2023, I wrote 79.000 words for the story that was in that dream. Zoolah. I'm very proud of the story. I think it came out great. It deals with all kinds of stuff. There are castes, a single-gender species of people, space travel, the desperation of a planet whose occupants used and/or wasted all its natural resources and who resort to dramatic…

Literally

I wonder about the word literally, and the way it's used lately. I literally did this on my laptop just now. (This person had created a drawing.) I asked in what other way than literally they might have done that, and the answer was: "What do you mean?" Asking if they'd ever heard of 'figuratively' got me no reaction any more. On Twitter, a while ago, I saw someone who wrote: "I literally died!" (Using twitter for iPhone.) There I…

I had a dream

And I'm not Dr Martin Luther King. Around Christmas last year I did have a dream. A very vivid one, one that I could almost call 'lucid'. From that dream, a story is developing. A science fiction story. Crazy, yes? Probably, if you're not a writer or another kind of artist. Dreams are powerful 'beings', that can do a lot of things. The basis of the dream and the story have been used before: Man gets abducted by aliens to…

Merry Christmas

To everyone who happens to pass by here, I wish a Merry Christmas. May your days be good, the step into the new year even better, and may books pave your way. Speaking about books: after 3 attempts I am finally getting close to the end of a sequel to "A Girl Named Sandy". Happy days and happy reading, everyone!

My last NaNoWriMo?

I've been thinking about NaNoWriMo. The writing-frenzy month of November, to punch out a 50.000 word story in 30 days. I've done that 'race' several times, and - honestly - it's not a big race for me. I've written 50K and 60K words in 7 of the months of this year, without the race element. I'm not a racer anyway. Maybe I'll stop doing Nanowrimo. The reason is not the ease of which I can 'win' it, but the problems…
